Sooo true! I think I was the child that challenged my teachers. I talked incessantly and was prone to crying if any looked at me the wrong way or possibly scolded me for inattentiveness. I may have had ADD before such a thing was recognized. In any case, I had one teacher who discovered my artistic ability and would direct my energy to drawing and painting. I was picked as her partner to dance the Arthur Murray Way, for our class demo’s. It made me try so much harder for her, because she didn’t treat me like I was a pain, even if I might have been. I loved her and years after I went to visit her and she still had this huge Bird of Paradise picture I’d painted for her hanging high in her room. I think of her often. I salute Miss Brennenstuhl and other teachers like her, who can identify and help children like me.
